Emotions
Whenever I find myself feeling tension in my chest, I know that the only release that works for me is a good cry.
I used to feel much more impatient with my emotions. I felt bad for feeling bad, adding guilt on top of an already negative state. I only wanted to feel good feelings.
I know myself better now, knowing that all emotions are fleeting. I know to surrender, to allow emotions to move through, rather than to suppress them. I know I am the most magnetic and radiant, if I truly feel, and truly love.
I know that after sadness, grief, and anger, follows the stillness of relief. Soon enough, the natural state of joy returns. Laughter, openness, love.
The openness allows for magnificence – Beauty, awe, and wonder.
I don’t chase feelings. I surrender to what is.
I make sure to tune into the pleasures of life, large and small. The smell of coffee, the leaves on our plants gently swaying in the breeze, the taste of fresh fruit, the setting sun painting the clouds in shades of pink.
I’ve started to appreciate what it’s truly like to feel in love with life.
